Marfa Street Residence

Designed for a young couple with roots in Alpine, this project is our interpretation of traditional Spanish Colonial Revival style. Alpine has a few existing examples of this style that date back to the turn of the century when Henry Trost was active in the region designing landmarks such as the Holland Hotel (Alpine), Gage Hotel (Marathon) and Paisano Hotel (Marfa), among others. We drew from these examples and added components that make this vernacular so suitable to our desert climate such as large patios and a rear south facing pergola, Spanish tile roof and Saltillo tile floors. Other elements such as decorative talavera tiled stair risers, carved wood doors and interior nichos feature throughout the home.
