Fort davis mountain home

This single family home sits atop a hilltop just outside of Fort Davis. The home's exterior showcases the natural beauty of rammed earth, with its earthy tones blending harmoniously with the landscape. Large windows strategically placed throughout the facade allow for ample natural light to penetrate the interior while offering panoramic views of the vast West Texan horizon.

Rammed earth construction is particularly well-suited to the arid climate of West Texas because its thermal mass helps regulate indoor temperatures by absorbing heat during the day and releasing it slowly at night, its a natural insulator and its incredibly durable and able to withstand our harsh weather conditions, including extreme heat.

To better understand the technology of rammed earth we attended a workshop in Arizona lead by Quintin Branch, a renowned holistic builder teaching traditional building techniques adapted for the modern era.
